Frequently Asked Questions

What are breastfeeding cookies? Breastfeeding cookies, or 'lactation cookies' are delicious cookies, made with ingredients that can support milk supply. Over hundreds of years, women worldwide have used different ingredients to boost their milk supply. These are called 'Galactagogues'. In our cookies, these are oats, flaxseed and brewers yeast.

What are Galactagogues? Galactagogues are foods, herbs or medicines that can help to increase milk supply. The origin of the word is from the Greek gala - 'milk' + agogos - 'leading'.

Do they work? Simple answer, yes! 80% of mums we've baked them for noticed an increase in milk supply. If you have any concerns about your milk supply or breastfeeding, please seek help from your GP, health visitor, midwife or lactation consultant.

How do I eat them? With a cuppa, same as any other biscuit. We recommend you eat 2 - 3 cookies a day for 3 days to see a difference, then maintain 1 - 2 cookies a day.

Can people other than breastfeeding mums eat them? Yes! And other people we've baked them for have found them delicious, and haven't started lactating! But shhh... we won't tell if you want to keep them for yourself.

How do I store them? Keep in an air tight container in a cool, dry environment.

How long do they keep? Our cookies are freshly baked. You will receive them with minimum 2 weeks' shelf life and they keep for 3 months in the freezer.
